The Gaoua region does not produce eggs and has to import them from bordering Ivory Coast and Ghana. A long trip in difficult climatic and traffic conditions. To satisfy Gaoua’s demand and make our educational projects sustainable, we have therefore set up a hen farm.
The hen farm has been named “Espoir Fertile” (Fertile Hope). It currently houses 470 hens and produces an average of 1650 eggs per week. (10 months/year)
The monthly income from the hen farm does not yet cover all the expenditures required to maintain the children. Therefore a seconf hen farm has been build, and soon more hens will be put to work.
